Chore Sections

All harper apprentices (but not paying students) are assigned to work in a chore section at the Thread's End HarperCraft Hall. Chore section assignments are announced each day at breakfast. With the exception of the students assigned to help with the preparation of meals (who report half an hour early to assist with preparations) all chores are normally accomplished during the 17th hour each work day, while the Hall's staff holds a faculty meeting.

There are six chore section groups, assigned to the following areas on a rotating basis. Each Harper student is assigned to a given chore section for an entire term. The following is the list of section assignments:

Courtyard - weeding and general cleanup
Dormitories - cleaning bathing rooms and tidying study areas
Stables - assisting with mucking out and feeding
Classroom buildings - cleaning and straightening classrooms, Great Hall, Art Studio and Workshop
Kitchen - cleaning dining hall and assisting with meal preparation for nooning and the evening meal
Faculty meeting messengers - running messages, errands which arise during the staff's daily meeting
